"And?"

"The ultrasound scan Marcus had in his bag wasn't Elena’s."

I blinked. "What do you mean it wasn't Elena’s?"

"It was a template downloaded from an online novelty website," Carter said gently. "Elena wasn't pregnant. She was faking the pregnancy to extort Marcus for monthly child-support advances before the wedding."

I stared at Carter in absolute disbelief.
