Julian Blackwood.
He was standing across the street from the facility.
Just standing.
Watching.
I called Thomas immediately.
"Did you see him?" I asked.
"See who?"
"A man. Standing across the street. Watching us."
Thomas looked through the binoculars.
Then he frowned.
"That's not Julian Blackwood. That's someone else."
"Who?"
"I don't know. But he's been there for three days."
"Three days?"
"We didn't want to alarm you. We thought it was just a hiker."
"It's not a hiker. It's someone who knows about us. Someone who's watching."
"Maybe. Or maybe it's just your imagination."
"It's not my imagination."
Thomas studied my face.
Then he nodded.
"We'll investigate. Stay inside. Don't go near the windows."
I held Emma close.
And I waited.
The man didn't move.
He just stood there.
Watching.
Waiting.
