CHAPTER 30: The Voss Name

We gathered at the new clinic that evening—family, friends, people we’d helped, people who’d helped us. Somewhere along the way, the name Voss had stopped meaning fear or wealth or power. It meant standing up. It meant showing up. It meant protecting the people no one else would.
I looked at my father, at Jude, at Marcus, at all the faces that had become part of our story. We still had enemies. We still had hard days ahead. But we had something no one could ever take away: each other.
