Chapter 9 - Martha Disappears

The next morning, Martha vanished from the secure guesthouse.
Two guards were unconscious.
No forced entry.
Mateo blamed himself.
Julian blamed Raymond.
Then Bianca called.
She sounded terrified.
“Julian, your mother is missing.”
He said nothing.
Bianca continued.
“I think Raymond took her.”
That was the first time she openly named him.
She offered a location.
An abandoned Hale warehouse near the river.
Nora warned it could be a trap.
It was.
Inside, Julian found Martha tied to a chair.
Alive.
Beside her lay Raymond.
Shot in the chest.
Bianca stood behind Julian holding a pistol.
“I’m sorry.”
Her voice shook.
For once, the fear looked real.
She claimed Raymond had kidnapped Martha and tried to kill them both.
Martha screamed.
“She shot him.”
Bianca aimed at Martha.
“She’s confused.”
Julian slowly turned.
“No.”
He looked at Bianca.
“That line stopped working at the pool.”
Sirens approached.
May you like
Bianca fired.
