Chapter 13 - Martha’s Secret

Martha admitted it.

She knew about Henry and Celeste.

Not immediately.

But before Celeste died.

She had confronted Henry.

He promised to end the affair.

Martha never told Bianca.

“Why?”

“Because I was ashamed.”

Martha’s silence allowed Raymond’s lie to grow.

She had also known Celeste was accused falsely.

Henry confessed years later.

They planned to clear her name.

Then Celeste died.

Martha buried the scandal.

Again.

Silence.

Again.

Damage.

Julian was furious.

“You taught me family reputation mattered more than truth.”

Martha cried.

“Yes.”

“And Bianca nearly killed you because of a lie you helped leave alive.”

“Yes.”

It was the hardest conversation Julian ever had with his mother.

Love did not erase accountability.

Martha agreed to testify publicly.

She released Henry’s confession and apologized to Celeste’s surviving family.

Adrian heard the statement from jail.
