Chapter 4 - Uncle Raymond

Raymond denied everything.
He called Bianca “a charming girl” and Martha “increasingly confused.”
Those exact words appeared in Dr. Cole’s report.
Julian recorded the conversation.
Raymond became angry when Julian mentioned the trust.
“You always thought everything belonged to you.”
Julian answered quietly.
“I’m trying to find out who thinks my mother belongs in a grave.”
Raymond hung up.
Mateo traced payments from a consulting company connected to Raymond.
Three went to Dr. Cole.
One went to Bianca’s brother, Adrian Laurent.
Adrian had a criminal record for identity theft.
The forged medical authorization suddenly made sense.
Then Julian discovered a transfer scheduled for the morning after the wedding.
Forty-eight million dollars from a Hale family investment account into an offshore trust.
Approval required Julian’s signature and Martha’s incapacity certification.
Julian’s signature had already been prepared.
They did not merely need Martha dead.
They needed Julian married before the transfer.
Because the offshore beneficiary was listed under Bianca’s future legal name.
