Chapter 15 - The Confrontation

Clara confronted Victor immediately.

"Is this true?"

"Your family's hospital denied my mother treatment?"

Victor didn't flinch.

"Yes."

"Why didn't you tell me?"

"Because I didn't know. Not until Patricia's letter."

"Victor, you're telling me your family—"

"Not my family. My father. He was the director."

"I was eighteen when I was disowned. I had no say in any of it."

Clara was shaking.

"Clara, I'm not them."

"You're not like your father."

"I will never be like him."

Clara turned away.

"I need time."

"I need to think."

"Take all the time you need," Victor said. "I'll be here when you're ready."
