Chapter 11 - The Offer
A shocking proposal arrived two weeks later.
Victor Sterling, the estranged son of the Sterling family, walked into Clara's office.
"Miss Mason."
"Mr. Sterling."
"I'm here to make you an offer."
Clara raised an eyebrow.
"Your family destroyed my mother. Why would I work with you?"
"Because I'm not like them."
"I was disowned fifteen years ago for speaking out against them."
Victor sat down.
"I know what Patricia did to your mother."
"I know what Andrew did to you."
"And I know that you're the only person who can save what's left of my family's legacy."
Clara remained silent.
"I'm offering you a partnership."
"Not a merger. Not an acquisition."
"A true partnership."
"Equal shares. Equal power. Equal control."
Clara studied him.
"Why should I trust you?"
