Arthur’s face flushed with deep embarrassment.

"My mother doesn't have twenty thousand dollars in cash!" Arthur pleaded, his voice cracking.

"Her entire monthly income comes from the family trust allowance that you used to manage!"

"Valerie is crying in the hotel lobby!"

"Leo, please, tell your mother to stop this!" Arthur yelled past my shoulder into the apartment.

Leo walked up to the door and stood right beside me.

"She isn't my mother, Dad," Leo said in a cold, even tone.

"And she isn't your bank account anymore."

"Go back to Valerie."

"Go back to the real family you wanted so badly."

Arthur stared at his son, completely speechless.

"I gave you twelve years of my life, Arthur," I said, stepping forward.

"I saved your business twice."

"I paid your rent while you bought designer dresses for your mistress."

"If you don't leave my doorstep in ten seconds, I will call the police for harassment."

Arthur backed away slowly, his eyes wide with disbelief as I slammed the door shut in his face.
