Chapter 19 - The Confrontation in the Park

Two hours later, the afternoon sun cast long shadows over the quiet trees of Prospect Park.
Eleanor stood near the stone fountain, flanked by a high-priced family lawyer and a private security guard.
She wore a dark coat, her hair neatly styled, but her eyes held a hollow, desperate madness.
I walked up the stone path toward her, flanked by David Miller and Leo.
Valerie and the baby remained safely inside David’s car parked at the curb with a police escort.
"Sarah," Eleanor spat, her voice raspy from her time in state custody.
"Still interfering in family matters that do not belong to you."
"You don't have a family left to ruin, Eleanor," I said, stopping ten feet away from her.
"You lost Arthur."
"You lost Leo."
"And you are not taking Valerie’s child."
"That child is a Westwood!" Eleanor shrieked, dropping her polished facade completely.
"He is the only heir left to carry on our name!"
"He is a human being," Leo interrupted loudly, stepping directly between Eleanor and me.

"Just like I was."
"And we are never letting you touch him."
