Chapter 17 - The Shadow of the Past
I stood in the doorway, staring at the woman who had helped destroy my marriage two years ago.
"You told Arthur the baby wasn't his," I reminded her coldly.
"That was a lie!" Valerie cried out, wiping her nose with her sleeve.
"I said that so he would leave me alone when he lost all his money!"
"But Eleanor ran a private DNA test while she was in prison!"
"The baby is Arthur's son!"
"And now Eleanor wants full custody so she can use the child to reclaim her late husband's legacy trust!"
Leo walked out into the hallway, hearing the commotion from his bedroom.
He froze when he saw Valerie and the crying baby through the gap in the door.
"What's going on, Sarah?" Leo asked, his voice instantly tightening with caution.

"And she’s repeating the exact same cycle."
