CHAPTER 7: THE VERDICT

The judge took three days to deliberate.

Three days of waiting, praying, and hoping.

When the verdict was finally announced, I held my breath.

"After reviewing the evidence, the court has decided to grant full custody of the twin girls to Mrs. Eleanor Watson."

I burst into tears.

"Mr. Watson has been ordered to pay child support and alimony. Visitation will be limited and supervised until he completes a parenting course and demonstrates his commitment to his children."

Brandon looked like he was going to be sick.

"The court also orders Mr. Watson to undergo a psychological evaluation and attend therapy for anger management."

He started to argue, but the judge silenced him.

"This is not up for debate," the judge said. "You left your wife and children when they needed you most. You have to prove that you've changed before you can be part of their lives again."

Brandon's face was white.

He was a defeated man.

And I felt nothing but relief.

Because I had won.

May you like

I had protected my babies.

And I had protected myself.
