CHAPTER 12: THE NEW NORMAL

Lila and Ivy started kindergarten.
I cried on their first day.
They looked so small, their backpacks almost bigger than they were. They waved goodbye and ran into the classroom without looking back.
I sat in the car and cried for twenty minutes.
But they were happy tears.
Because my daughters were okay.
They were happy.
They were thriving.
And so was I.
I had a job I loved. I had friends I trusted. I had a community of women who supported me.
And I had two beautiful daughters who were the center of my world.
I was still healing.

And I knew I was going to be okay.
