CHAPTER 12: THE NEW NORMAL

Lila and Ivy started kindergarten.

I cried on their first day.

They looked so small, their backpacks almost bigger than they were. They waved goodbye and ran into the classroom without looking back.

I sat in the car and cried for twenty minutes.

But they were happy tears.

Because my daughters were okay.

They were happy.

They were thriving.

And so was I.

I had a job I loved. I had friends I trusted. I had a community of women who supported me.

And I had two beautiful daughters who were the center of my world.

I was still healing.

But I had come so far.

And I knew I was going to be okay.
