Chapter 20 - The Legacy of Love

Night fell softly over the estate as the wedding reception continued under the starlit sky.

Laughter and sweet music drifted from the garden pavilion.

I stepped away from the crowd for a quiet moment, walking up to the stone terrace overlooking the lawn.

I held a small glass of champagne in my hand, watching Daniel and Clara slow dance beneath the warm string lights.

A gentle breeze rustled the surrounding trees, carrying the sweet scent of night-blooming jasmine.

I reached into my pocket and touched the cold, smooth metal of Richard's restored pocket watch.

I opened the casing, looking at the tiny photograph of my younger self and the engraving inside.

"We made it, Richard," I whispered softly into the quiet night wind.

"Our son is safe."

"He found a good woman who loves him for who he is."

"Our home is peaceful, and our legacy is secure."

I felt a warm, comforting presence settle over my shoulders, like a soft embrace from the past.

Daniel looked up from the dance floor, caught my eye on the terrace, and raised his glass to me with a brilliant, grateful smile.

Clara waved warmly beside him.

I raised my champagne glass back to them, my heart overflowing with peace, strength, and endless love.

The test was over.
