Chapter 12 - The Serpent Exposed

Five minutes later, Julian Whitmore was led into the grand foyer in heavy handcuffs.
His expensive suit was rumpled, and his polished demeanor had shattered completely.
"This is an outrage!" Julian shouted, glaring at Agent Vance.
"I am a private investor! You have no right to detain me!"
"You have the right to remain silent, Mr. Whitmore," Vance replied calmly, reading him his rights from a small card.
Julian’s furious eyes locked onto mine.
"You always were a clever bitch, Eleanor," Julian sneered, spitting on the polished floor.
"Richard should have left you with nothing!"
"Richard was twice the man you will ever be, Julian," I said, standing beside my son.
"You spent fifteen years hiding in the shadows, waiting for a chance to steal what you couldn't build."
"You used an arrogant, greedy girl like Vanessa to do your dirty work because you were too much of a coward to face me yourself."
Julian sneered, turning his head toward Daniel.
"And you, boy," Julian mocked.
"You almost handed him the keys to the entire empire for a pretty face in a dress."
"You're weak, just like your father."
Daniel walked slowly up to his uncle.
He didn't yell.
He didn't raise his fist.
He simply looked down at Julian with absolute pity and disgust.
"My father died with honor, Uncle Julian," Daniel said softly.
