The sun began setting behind the rolling hills of the estate, casting a long, brilliant golden light across the conservatory.
Daniel kissed my cheek and walked out to his car, his footsteps light and confident.
I walked out onto the grand stone terrace, enjoying the cool autumn breeze rustling through the trees.
Rosa stepped out beside me, carrying a silver tray with a fresh pot of chamomile tea.
"Mr. Daniel looks happy again, ma'am," Rosa noted with a warm smile.
"He is happy, Rosa," I agreed, pouring myself a warm cup.
"He found his footing."
I looked out over the driveway where, just two months ago, a bucket of dirty water had been thrown at my feet in an attempt to humiliate me.
That moment of cruelty had been intended to break our family apart.

I took a slow, satisfying sip of my tea, breathing in the crisp, clean air of my home.
Behind me, the grand estate stood strong, bright, and secure—a fortress built on truth, guarded by love, and cleaned of all filth.
I smiled quietly to myself as the first stars appeared in the evening sky.
