Chapter 8 - The Price of Treason

By midnight, the news sent shockwaves across the global financial market.
Blackwell Media launched a aggressive hostile takeover of Vance Logistics.
Within four hours, the Vance family lost over two billion dollars in stock value.
Julian Vance was held in central booking without bail.
Inside the Blackwell estate, Victoria Vance was packing her bags under the heavy guard of Harrison’s security detail.
She was screaming hysterically as she threw her designer dresses into leather suitcases.
"You can't do this to me, Harrison!" Victoria shrieked as Harrison walked into the foyer, accompanied by Olivia.
"My family helped you build your empire!"
"Your brother attempted to kidnap my son and assaulted my head of security," Harrison stated coldly, standing with his hands in his pockets.
"You are lucky I am letting you walk out of this house instead of putting you in a cell next to Julian."
Victoria stopped packing and turned toward Olivia, her eyes filled with bitter poison.
"It's her, isn't it?" Victoria hissed, pointing a trembling finger at Olivia.
"You threw away a multi-billion dollar alliance for a common servant!"
"She has nothing! No family, no power, no money!"
"She has loyalty," Harrison cut in sharply. "Something you and your family never possessed."
Harrison waved his hand dismissively to the security guards.
"Escort Miss Vance off the property."
"If she ever sets foot within five hundred yards of my son or Olivia again, arrest her immediately."
The guards grabbed Victoria's arms and dragged her kicking and screaming out the front double doors.
The heavy wooden doors slammed shut, leaving the foyer in absolute silence.
Olivia stood beside Harrison, feeling an overwhelming wave of exhaustion wash over her.
"It's over," Olivia whispered softly.
Harrison turned his head to look down at her.
"No, Olivia," Harrison said gravely. "It’s only just beginning."
"The Vance family was not working alone."
"Julian didn't have the technical skills to hack my tower's elevator system."
"Someone inside my executive board gave him the access codes."
Olivia looked up at him in surprise.
"You have a traitor on your board?"
Harrison reached out, gently taking her hand in his.
May you like
"Yes," he said, his fingers intertwining with hers.
"And I need you to help me hunt them down."
