Chapter 16 - The Underground War

Deep beneath the streets of Manhattan lay a series of abandoned subway tunnels bought secretly by Harrison years ago.
Harrison, Olivia, and Ethan walked through the dark, damp tunnels lit only by tactical flashlights.
Ten heavily armed loyal mercenaries marched around them in a tight defensive formation.
Ethan was asleep in Harrison’s arms, exhausted from the sudden escape.
"Where are we headed?" Olivia asked, stepping over rusty iron rails.
"To my private stealth airfield under Jersey City," Harrison replied, his voice calm and lethal in the darkness.
"My private jet is ready to fly us to a non-extradition island in the Pacific."
"We can't run forever, Harrison!" Olivia argued softly.
"If we flee the country, it makes me look guilty!"
"Victor Vance wins!"
Harrison stopped in his tracks and turned to look at her in the dim flashlight beam.
"We are not fleeing to hide, Olivia," Harrison said, a dark, cold smile playing on his lips.
"We are going to my island because that is where my primary mainframe server is located."
"The server that contains twenty years of blackmail files on Victor Vance, Interpol directors, and half the politicians in Washington."
"Once I launch those files to the global media, Victor Vance will be executed for war crimes by sunrise."
Suddenly, a bright white spotlight blinded them from the front of the tunnel.
Heavy footsteps echoed down the iron tracks.
A loud, booming voice echoed through a megaphone.
"Harrison Blackwell! Stop right there!"
A tall, elderly man with slick white hair and an expensive gray suit stepped into the spotlight, holding a silver cane.
It was Victor Vance himself.
Behind him stood twenty heavily armed private mercenaries wearing black tactical armor.
"Victor," Harrison spat out, shielding Olivia behind his back.
"You should have stayed in Dubai, old man."
Victor Vance chuckled softly, tapping his silver cane against the iron rail.
"And miss the satisfaction of seeing the great Harrison Blackwell crawling like a rat in a sewer?" Victor mocked.
"You destroyed my daughter's reputation, Harrison."
"You put my son in a federal prison."
"And you did it all for this penniless little servant girl."
Victor raised his hand, gesturing to his twenty armed guards.

"Give me the boy and the girl, Harrison," Victor ordered coldly.
"And I might let you live to see your empire burn."
