Chapter 15 - The World Against Her

Within one hour, every news channel in the world broadcasted Olivia’s picture.

BREAKING NEWS: WANTED INTERNATIONAL TERRORIST.

The headlines painted her as a rogue hacker who used Harrison Blackwell’s son to infiltrate high-level corporate intelligence.

Photos of her from her past were distorted and leaked online.

"This is insane!" Olivia cried out as she watched the television screen in Harrison’s private study.

"They are turning me into a monster!"

Harrison slammed his fist down onto his mahogany desk, shattering his glass coffee cup.

"Victor Vance is using his connections in Interpol," Harrison raged, his face terrifyingly dark.

"He wants to drag you into a federal prison where he can have you assassinated before I can intervene!"

Suddenly, the red emergency lights inside the penthouse began flashing.

Loud sirens echoed from the building’s lower levels.

Harrison’s head security officer burst through the doors, holding an assault rifle.

"Sir! Federal agents and Interpol tactical teams are breaching the main lobby!" the officer shouted panic-stricken.

"They have a federal warrant signed by the Supreme Court!"

"Our security team cannot legally fire on federal agents!"

Olivia looked at Harrison, horror rising in her chest.

"Harrison, you can't fight the government for me," Olivia pleaded, tears spilling over her eyes.

"They will destroy your company! They will take Ethan away from you!"

Harrison stepped toward her, taking both of her hands in his with a grip of steel.

"I don't give a damn about the company," Harrison said in a voice that shook with terrifying determination.

"And no one is taking you from me."

He turned to his chief officer.

"Activate Protocol Zero."

The officer’s eyes widened in shock.

"Protocol Zero, sir? That will trigger a complete blackout of Manhattan!"

"Do it now!" Harrison roared.

The officer hit a red button on his wrist communicator.

Three seconds later, the lights across the entire island of Manhattan suddenly went pitch black.

The elevator shafts died, traffic lights stopped working, and the federal sirens outside went dead silent.

Harrison pulled a pair of night-vision goggles from his desk drawer and slipped them onto Olivia’s head.

"Where are we going?" Olivia whispered as the room plunged into complete darkness.

Harrison grabbed her hand, pulling her toward a secret door hidden behind the bookshelf.

"We are going underground," Harrison whispered in the dark.

"It's time to destroy Victor Vance once and for all."
