Chapter 20 - A New Dawn

Six months later.
The sun rose warmly over the coast of Rhode Island, casting a golden glow over a massive seaside estate.
The Blackwell empire was stronger than ever.
The Vance family was completely erased from the financial world, their assets liquidated and donated to children's medical charities.
Inside the grand mansion, laughter echoed down the marble hallway.
Little Ethan ran across the manicured lawn, chasing a golden retriever puppy.
"Olivia! Look how fast he is!" Ethan cheered, waving excitedly.
Olivia sat on the wide white veranda, wearing an elegant cream-colored dress.
She looked healthy, radiant, and happy.
Her arm was completely healed, leaving only a small, faint scar on her shoulder—a medal of her courage.
Beside her sat her mother, looking healthy and resting comfortably in an armchair, sipping tea.
"You found a good man, Olivia," her mother said softly, looking out at the ocean. "A man who would burn the world to keep you safe."
"I know, Mom," Olivia smiled, feeling an overwhelming warmth in her heart.
Footsteps sounded behind her.
Harrison walked out onto the veranda, dressed in a sharp dark suit.
He looked relaxed, his dark gray eyes softer than they had ever been in his life.
He walked over to Olivia, leaning down to press a warm kiss against her forehead.
"Ethan wants to show you his new drawing," Harrison murmured, pulling a folded paper from his pocket.
Olivia unfolded it.
It showed three figures holding hands under a golden sun: Ethan, Harrison, and Olivia with a diamond crown on her head.
Below the drawing, in Ethan's shaky handwriting, were the words: MY FAMILY.
Olivia’s eyes welled with sweet tears.
Harrison reached into his inner suit jacket pocket and pulled out a small black velvet box.
He dropped down onto one knee right in front of her chair.
Olivia gasped softly, covering her mouth with both hands.
"Six months ago, you were carrying a tray of champagne down a marble staircase," Harrison said, looking up into her eyes with deep devotion.
"You were overworked, underpaid, and invisible to the world."
"But to me, you became everything."
Harrison opened the velvet box, revealing a flawless ten-carat blue diamond ring that shimmered like the ocean.
"You saved my son, you saved my life, and you taught me how to love again."
"Olivia Brooks, will you make me the happiest man alive and become my wife?"
Olivia didn't hesitate for a single second.
"Yes!" she sobbed happily. "Yes, Harrison! A thousand times yes!"
Harrison slipped the sparkling ring onto her finger and pulled her into a passionate kiss as her mother clapped and Ethan cheered from the lawn.
Later that evening, as the stars filled the quiet night sky, Harrison and Olivia stood together at the edge of the seaside cliff, holding hands.
Harrison’s phone buzzed softly in his pocket.
He pulled it out and looked at the screen.
It was an encrypted message from an unknown global satellite node:
WARNING: THE SYNDICATE HAS SELECTED A NEW CHAIRMAN. OPERATION BLACKWELL IS NEXT.
Harrison looked at the message for a moment.
His eyes flashed with a cold, sharp, lethal edge.
He did not hide it from Olivia.
He showed her the screen.
Olivia looked at the warning, then looked up into Harrison’s dark eyes.
She didn't flinch. She didn't tremble.
She reached out and slowly pressed the delete button on the message.
"Let them come," Olivia said, her voice sharp, cold, and utterly fearless.
May you like
Harrison smiled dark and dangerously, pulling her close against his side.
"Let them come."
