Chapter 19 - The Fall of the Titan

Victor Vance looked at the tablet screen, then looked up at Harrison and Olivia.
He saw no mercy in Harrison’s eyes.
He saw no fear in Olivia’s face.
In a fit of desperate, coward rage, Victor pulled a small Derringer pistol from his boot and aimed it straight at Olivia’s forehead.
"If I go down, you come with me!" Victor screamed.
Before Victor could pull the trigger, Harrison dropped his rifle, stepped in front of Olivia, and slammed his fist directly into Victor’s jaw.
A loud crunch echoed on the rooftop.
Victor was lifted off his feet by the sheer force of Harrison’s blow.
He flew backward over the edge of the low roof railing.
"Harrison!" Olivia gasped, grabbing Harrison's arm.
Harrison reached out over the ledge with lightning speed, grabbing Victor by his collar just as he was falling toward the freezing Hudson River sixty floors below.
Victor swung wildly above the dark abyss, screaming in absolute horror.
"Harrison! Please! Don't drop me!" Victor begged, weeping like a child. "I'll give you everything! My money! My land! Please!"
Harrison held the heavy man over the drop with one arm, his muscular frame locked like steel.
Harrison looked down at the pathetic, crying old man who had tried to murder his son and frame the woman he loved.
"You offered me money, Victor," Harrison said, his voice terrifyingly calm amidst the roaring storm.
"But you never understood what truly matters."
Harrison turned his head to look at Olivia, who was standing beside him in the rain.
"She is my world," Harrison said softly.
He looked back down at Victor.
"And you threatened my world."
Harrison let go of his grip.
Victor’s high-pitched scream faded rapidly into the roaring dark wind as he plummeted down into the raging waters of the Hudson River below.
Harrison stood up slowly and turned to Olivia.
The rain washed the blood from his hands.
Olivia didn't say a word.
She threw her arms around Harrison’s neck, hugging him with all the strength left in her body.
Harrison wrapped his arms tightly around her waist, pulling her flush against his chest and burying his face in her wet hair.
"It’s over," Harrison whispered gently into her ear. "You are safe now, my love."
Suddenly, the night sky was illuminated by bright blue and red lights.
Ten police helicopters hovered around the rooftop, accompanied by federal vehicles pulling up to the building below.
A voice echoed over a police loudspeaker.
"Harrison Blackwell! Miss Olivia Brooks!"
"Stand down! The threats have been eliminated!"
"You are completely cleared!"
Harrison looked into Olivia’s eyes, a rare, beautiful smile illuminating his dark handsome face.
"Ready to go home, Miss Brooks?" he asked softly.

Olivia smiled back, tears of pure joy mixing with the rain on her cheeks.
"Take me home, Harrison."
