Chapter 27: The Promise
On our wedding anniversary, Lucas took me back to the spot where we’d gotten married years before. The same park, the same lake, but everything felt different—lighter, truer.
He pulled out a small ring—not new, but polished and bright.
“I promised to love you through everything,” he said. “But I never promised to be honest. I’m making that promise now. No more secrets. No more lies. Just us.”
I held out my hand and let him put it on. “And if you ever forget… I’ll remind you.”
Jude and Ethan stood watching from the path, grinning like fools.
