Chapter 16: The Warehouse

Jude tracked the signal from Ethan’s watch to an old shipping warehouse down by the docks. FBI agents surrounded the building within minutes.
Lucas and Jude went in first, silent, moving like shadows. They found Ethan tied to a chair in the center of the main floor—unhurt, but pale and scared. David stood over him, gun in hand.
“Let him go,” Lucas said, raising his weapon.
“Drop yours,” David answered. “Or he takes a bullet first.”
Ethan looked up at Lucas. “Don’t Dad. They’re waiting for you.”
Just then, lights flooded the room. Agents burst through every door. David fired once—missing Lucas by inches—before he was tackled to the ground.
We ran to Ethan and cut him loose. He clung to me, shaking, but he didn’t cry.
“I knew you’d come,” he whispered.
Outside, police vans were already loading up men in handcuffs. The ring leaders. The enforcers. The people who’d haunted us for months.
But as David was led past us, he leaned close to Lucas. “You didn’t win. There’s someone else. Someone you’ll never see coming.”
