CHAPTER 6: THE PLAN
Dominic's plan was simple.
He would use his connections to ensure Vivian Whitmore couldn't destroy Grace's life. He would find her a new job, help her with her finances, and make sure she was protected.
But there was a catch.
Grace would have to attend the next charity gala. And she would have to face Vivian directly.
"You want me to confront her?" Grace asked.
"I want you to show her that she doesn't scare you."
"She terrifies me."
"That's okay. Fear is natural. But you can't let it control you."
Grace took a deep breath.
"Fine. I'll do it."
"Good."
Dominic reached into his desk and pulled out a small box.
"One more thing."
"What's that?"
He opened the box. Inside was a beautiful silver necklace with a small pendant.
"It belonged to my mother," he said. "She asked me to give it to you."
Grace stared at it.
"I can't accept this."
"You can and you will."
"Why?"
"Because my mother is grateful. And so am I."
He fastened the necklace around her neck.
Grace touched the pendant.
It felt warm against her skin.
"Thank you," she said.
