CHAPTER 12: THE RESCUE

Dominic knew something was wrong the moment Grace didn't answer her phone.

He called her apartment. Her office. Her friends.

No one had seen her.

He knew.

Vivian had taken her.

He called his team.

"Find her," he said. "Find her now."

Within hours, they had a lead. Grace was being held in an abandoned warehouse on the outskirts of the city.

Dominic didn't wait.

He drove there himself, flanked by his men, his heart pounding with fear and rage.

When he burst through the warehouse doors, he saw Grace.

She was tied to a chair, her face pale, her eyes defiant.

"Dominic," she said. "I knew you'd come."

"Of course I came."

He rushed to her side and cut the ropes binding her.

"Are you okay?"

"I'm fine."

Dominic pulled her into his arms.

"I thought I'd lost you," he said.

"Never. I'm not that easy to get rid of."

He laughed.

Then he looked up at his men.

"Find Vivian," he said. "Bring her to me. Alive."

They left.

Dominic helped Grace to her feet.

"It's over," he said. "I promise."

Grace looked at him.

"Dominic, I need to tell you something."

"What?"

"I love you."

He stared at her.

"Grace—"

"I know it's crazy. I know we've only known each other for a few weeks. But I've never felt this way about anyone before."

Dominic smiled.

"I love you too," he said.

They kissed.

And in that moment, everything felt right.

The danger, the fear, the uncertainty—it all faded away.

May you like

Because they had found each other.

And that was all that mattered.
