CHAPTER 13: THE RECKONING

Vivian was brought to Dominic's office the next day.

She looked terrified.

"Dominic, please," she said. "I can explain."

"Explain what? That you tried to kidnap the woman I love?"

"It was a mistake."

"It was a crime."

Dominic walked toward her.

"I've been patient with you, Vivian. I've let you play your games. But this time you went too far."

"What are you going to do?"

Dominic smiled.

"I'm going to expose you. Your family's business. Your illegal dealings. Everything."

"You can't do that."

"I can, and I will."

Vivian started crying.

"Please. My family has done so much for this city."

"And they've also done so much damage."

Dominic leaned close.

"You tried to hurt the woman I love. And for that, you'll pay."

He gestured to his men.

"Take her to the police."

Vivian was dragged out of the room, screaming and crying.

Dominic turned to Grace.

"It's over," he said. "She won't bother us again."

Grace nodded.

"Thank you."

"For what?"

"For everything."

Dominic smiled.

"Always."

He took her hand.

"I love you, Grace."

"I love you too."

They kissed.

And for the first time, they both believed that the future would be bright.
