Chapter 8 - A Vanishing Trail

The ballroom went completely still.
Margaret gasped, clutching her chest tightly.
"You wouldn't dare!" Margaret gasped out.
"Try me, Margaret," Madison purred, her eyes cold as steel.
"I spent three years setting up insurance policies in case Adrian ever lost his mind."
"If that data drops, Westwood Global will be under federal indictment before sunrise."
"Every asset frozen."
"Every account seized."
"You’ll all be bankrupt."
Detective Miller frowned heavily.
"Extortion is a severe federal offense, Miss Cole."
"I don't care about your charges, Detective," Madison sneered.
"I care about my freedom."
"Let me walk out that door right now, or watch your entire dynasty collapse, Adrian."
Adrian stared at the woman he was supposed to marry in six weeks.
He felt no sadness.
He felt no heartbreak.
He only felt a burning, righteous anger.
He stepped closer to Madison until he was standing inches away from her face.
"Do it," Adrian whispered.
Madison’s eyes widened slightly in genuine shock.
"What?" she whispered back.
"Release the files," Adrian said, his voice terrifyingly calm.
"Burn the company to the ground."
"Take every dime."
