Chapter 20 - Whispers of Tomorrow

Six months later.
The Westwood estate had transformed from a cold, silent mansion into a warm, bright home filled with life.
The dark memories of the past were replaced by the sounds of music and laughter.
Rachel had been appointed head administrator of the Westwood estate and charity operations, managing the family's philanthropic projects.
Emma was now attending one of the finest private elementary schools in Chicago, her bright mind thriving in her new environment.
On a warm summer evening, Adrian stood on the back terrace, watching Emma play fetch with a golden retriever puppy on the green lawn.
Rachel walked out onto the terrace, holding two glasses of fresh iced tea.
She handed one to Adrian with a soft, warm smile.
"She loves that dog, Mr. Westwood," Rachel said softly, looking at her daughter.
"Thank you for everything you’ve given us."
Adrian took a sip of his tea and looked at Rachel.
"You gave me my life back, Rachel," Adrian said sincerely.
"You don't ever need to thank me."
The sun began setting over the horizon, painting the sky in deep shades of gold and violet.
Suddenly, Adrian’s private phone rang on the glass table beside him.
He picked it up and tapped the screen.
It was an encrypted voice message from Detective Miller’s private office.
Adrian pressed play and put the phone to his ear.
"Adrian," Detective Miller’s voice echoed through the speaker.
"We just finished auditing Arthur Sterling's offshore bank accounts in Switzerland."
"We found something strange."
"A three-million-dollar transfer made yesterday morning."
"Sent from a private account registered under a name we didn't expect."
Adrian’s eyebrows narrowed slightly.
"Whose name, Detective?" Adrian asked, his voice growing serious.
"Your father’s," Miller replied softly over the phone line.
"The father you thought died ten years ago."

Adrian stood frozen on the terrace as the cool evening wind blew past him.
He looked out over the vast golden horizon, holding his breath as the past opened a brand-new, unwritten door into the future.
