Chapter 10 - Shadows in the Holding Cell

Detective Miller didn't wait another second.

He nodded sharply to his officers.

"Arrest Caleb Westwood and Madison Cole immediately," Miller ordered forcefully.

Two officers slammed Caleb onto the marble floor and pulled his arms behind his back.

The other two officers grabbed Madison, ripping the smartwatch off her wrist before she could touch the screen.

"Get your hands off me!" Madison screamed furiously, thrashing violently as the iron handcuffs clicked over her wrists.

"You have no idea who you're dealing with!"

"This doesn't end with me!"

"There are people in this city far more powerful than the Westwoods!"

Detective Miller grabbed Madison’s arm firmly.

"You can tell all about them to the federal prosecutor, Miss Cole."

As the officers dragged Madison and Caleb out through the grand entrance, the remaining guests began whispering furiously among themselves.

Media reporters were already filming live broadcasts outside the tall iron gates of the estate.

Margaret collapsed onto a plush sofa in the foyer, sobbing quietly into her hands.

"My family... my sweet boys..." Margaret wept softly.

"How did everything turn into such a nightmare?"

Natalie looked at Margaret without a single shred of sympathy.

"It became a nightmare when you chose greed over truth, Margaret," Natalie said coldly.

"You pushed Claire away because she saw through Madison’s lies three years ago."

Adrian turned away from his mother and walked back toward Rachel and Emma.

He knelt down on one knee in front of the little girl.

Emma was still holding her rabbit, watching him with large, innocent gray eyes.

"Emma," Adrian said softly, his tone filled with absolute sincerity.

"You saved my life tonight."
