Chapter 11 - The Housekeeper’s Secret

Emma smiled shyly and hid her face behind her stuffed rabbit.

Rachel stepped forward, her face still showing signs of extreme stress.

"Mr. Westwood, I am so sorry for all the chaos my daughter caused," Rachel stammered.

"I didn't know she had seen anything."

"If I had known, I would have brought it to you privately."

Adrian stood up and shook his head firmly.

"Do not apologize, Rachel," Adrian instructed gently.

"If Emma hadn't spoken up tonight, I would have put a ring on that monster's finger in front of three hundred people."

"I owe you and your daughter everything."

Rachel looked down at her polished work shoes, biting her lip hesitantly.

"Mr. Westwood..." Rachel murmured, lowering her voice so the nearby guests couldn't hear.

"There is something else you need to know."

Adrian’s eyebrows narrowed instantly.

"What is it?"

Rachel looked around nervously before meeting his gaze.

"The night Mrs. Westwood died three years ago..." Rachel whispered.

"I wasn't working the day shift."

"I was working the night shift in the west pantry."

"I saw who left the estate right after Mrs. Westwood drove away in the storm."

Adrian’s heart skipped a heavy beat.

"Who?" he demanded in an urgent whisper.

"It wasn't Miss Cole," Rachel said quietly.

"It was your mother."
