Chapter 3 - EMERGENCY TRANSPORT

"Get the gurney! Now!" Clara shouted, her medical instincts finally overriding her terror.

Two orderlies rushed out from the corridor pushing a metal stretcher with squeaking wheels.

Ethan and his men lifted Tyler onto the gurney with practiced, urgent force.

"He was shot directly in the chest," Clara declared, keeping pressure on the wound while walking rapidly.

"The bleeding is extremely heavy, and the bullet is likely embedded near his pericardium."

Ethan ran alongside the gurney, his tactical rifle slung across his back.

"Is he going to make it?" Ethan demanded, his jaw clenched tight.

"If we don't operate in the next five minutes, he will bleed out right here," Clara replied coldly.

They burst through the heavy double doors into the hallway leading to the surgical suite.

The stained-glass windows painted the checkered floor in eerie shades of red and blue.

Senior Surgeon Dr. Miller emerged from an adjacent room, his surgical mask hanging around his neck.

"What is going on here?" Dr. Miller demanded, looking at the heavily armed soldiers.

"Critical chest trauma! We need Operating Room 1 immediately!" Clara called out.

Dr. Miller glanced at Tyler's pale face and nodding sternly, pushed open the doors.

"Hurry up! Move! Move!" Ethan barked to his soldiers, guarding the entrance.

They wheeled Tyler into the operating room, where surgical lights flickered under stable generator power.

Ethan stood at the threshold, refusing to back away.

"You fix him, Doc, or none of us are leaving this building alive," Ethan threatened softly.

Clara stared back at the commander, realizing the soldier on the table was more than just a squad mate.
