Chapter 15 - ROOFTOP HUNTERS

Heavy military helicopters thundered overhead, blinding spotlights illuminating the alleyway.
Special Forces reinforcements were rappelling down onto the roofs of adjacent buildings.
"Friendly forces! Secure the perimeter!" a voice boomed over a loudspeaker.
Dr. Miller squirmed beneath Ethan's grip, reaching for a small glass vial concealed in his coat pocket.
Clara saw the movement and kicked the vial away before Miller could shatter it on the ground.
The glass tube rolled into the sewer grate, disappearing into the dark water.
"You fool! That was the cure!" Miller screamed frantically, his composure completely shattering.
Ethan struck Miller across the jaw, knocking him unconscious cold on the wet pavement.
Tactical soldiers stormed the alley, securing the remaining mercenaries and creating a safe perimeter.
A field medic team sprinted forward, carrying a high-tech portable life support stretcher.
"We have the target! Secure Dr. Vance and Captain Ross!" the team leader yelled.
Clara collapsed onto her knees in the rain, the sheer exhaustion finally catching up to her body.
Ethan knelt beside her, wrapping a warm thermal blanket around her shivering shoulders.
"You did incredible, Clara," Ethan said, his voice soft for the first time.
"We saved him. Tyler is alive."
Clara looked over at Tyler, who was being loaded safely into an armored military ambulance.
His chest was rising and falling rhythmically under the heart monitor's care.
She thought the nightmare was finally over.
She was terribly wrong.
