Chapter 17 - Rachel’s operations manager speaks

Rachel’s former operations manager, Megan Price, had resigned six months before Thanksgiving.
Not because of the Hales.
At least that was what Rachel said.
Megan contacted lawyers after subpoenas.
Her testimony changed the civil case.
She said Rachel repeatedly instructed staff:
“Keep family-backed bookings on separate tracker.”
Why?
“So our outside accountant doesn’t treat Hale guarantee as company liability.”
Did Ravel & Pine record contingent exposure?
Not formally.
Because technically the guarantee belonged to Thomas.
That was exactly the advantage.
Megan objected:
“If Hale pays and client doesn’t, what happens?”
Rachel answered:
“My dad can afford it.”
That sentence did not create liability.
It revealed attitude.
Then Megan produced a spreadsheet.
Columns:
Client.
Venue.
Gross event value.
Rachel fee.
Venue commission.
Hale-backed balance.
Recovery status.
Rachel tracked it.

She knew exactly which events depended on family credit.
No innocent confusion.
