Chapter 15 - The venues do not all agree

Three venues had claims under the Hale master account.

Their positions differed.

Grand Wycliffe Hotel claimed:

$86,000.

Strong documentation.

Rachel clearly booked event under master account.

Client defaulted.

Hale guarantee language broad.

Orchard House Estate claimed:

$72,400.

But its sales manager had separately agreed to limit Hale exposure to venue minimum.

Potential reduction.

Marston Conservatory claimed:

$55,600.

Weakest.

Its contract with client identified Ravel & Pine as financially responsible and only referenced Hale account for preferred rates.

Thomas’s lawyers disputed full guaranty application.

No single lawsuit instantly decided all three.

Negotiations.

Document review.

Depositions.

Contract interpretation.

Then actual clients.

Two paid partial amounts after settlement pressure.

One entered bankruptcy.

Vendor claims dropped.

Net family exposure moved downward.

Rachel’s business did not evaporate overnight.

But venues stopped allowing her to use Hale master account.

Her credit terms tightened.

She had to operate on her company’s own balance sheet.

That was the market consequence she had avoided for years.
