CHAPTER 18: THE BOOK

A year after my mother's second arrest, I wrote a book.

It was a memoir. Not about revenge, but about survival. About learning to stand up for yourself. About the power of choosing yourself over a toxic family.

I didn't use real names. I changed details. But the heart of it was true.

When it was published, I braced myself for backlash.

But instead, the response was overwhelming. I received hundreds of letters. Women who had been through similar things. Women who felt seen for the first time.

I started speaking at events. Small groups at first, then larger audiences. I shared my story. I gave hope.

I never expected to become an advocate. But I did.

And it gave my life a new purpose.
