Chapter 9 - The First Emma
Victor contacted the bunker from Mercer House.
Behind him, tied to a chair, sat my father Marcus.
The dead had become crowded that night.
Marcus was older and bruised but unmistakably alive.
Victor admitted activating the Winter Protocol because Adrian threatened to kill Marcus.
Then Victor revealed he had secretly added a fourth authentication requirement: himself.
That meant Adrian could not kill him until the transfer was complete.
Victor told us to go to Zurich and retrieve the original trust ledger before Adrian could control the succession terms.
Older Emma confronted Victor over her mother Evelyn.
Victor admitted he had known Evelyn tried to expose Mercer and had failed to protect her.
Then he revealed a deeper family secret.
Adrian's mother had been Evelyn.
Adrian Mercer was not merely Victor's hidden son as Luca believed.
The truth was more tangled: Evelyn had been coerced into a relationship with Adrian Mercer Sr., and family records had been manipulated for decades.
Marcus tried to explain that the biological history and legal heirship were deliberately blurred to keep Mercer from proving ownership.
Gunshots erupted off camera.
Victor shouted that Mercer knew Luca was alive.
Before the connection failed, he gave us one final warning.
"The ledger says Emma isn't Luca's only child."
