Older Emma claimed she had not burned the house.
She had come because instructions left by my mother said I would eventually open the wolf.
She knew Luca.
She knew Marcus.

We escaped the burning property as Mercer vehicles arrived.
Older Emma drove us through a logging road to a bunker Marcus had built beneath a hill.
There she explained the black box contained root authentication for Luca's Winter Protocol.
Once activated, the protocol froze the protected Vale assets for seventy-two hours and transferred them according to a secret bloodline sequence.
The exposed family wealth exceeded ninety billion dollars when hidden Mercer structures were counted.
Emma, Luca's six-year-old daughter, was the intended beneficiary.
Clara refused to accept that her child should inherit an empire built on violence.
Then Darius accused older Emma of secretly working with Mercer in Zurich.
She admitted paying Mercer twelve million dollars for information because she believed he was holding Luca.
The bunker monitors suddenly registered an access attempt.
Only Marcus, Luca, and older Emma supposedly knew the location.
The doors began unlocking.
A weak voice came over the exterior intercom.
"Emma.
Open the door."
The security camera showed a thin, scarred man standing outside in the rain.
Thirteen years older.
Bearded.
Alive.
