Chapter 8 - JAMIE

Ryan pinned Peter against the wall while I called police.
Peter did not fight.
He told me Bell had operated on me after a serious childhood infection damaged my heart.
A tissue donation helped save me.
The donor was Peter’s six-year-old son.
Jamie.
Jamie had died after a car crash.
Before he died, he wrote letters.
One was for the child who would receive part of his donation.
Me.
Peter believed Bell had kept the original letter somewhere in the mansion.
“So you conned my mother to get access?”
“Yes.”
Margaret slapped him.
“You told me you loved me.”
“I did.”
“You stole forty-two thousand dollars.”
“Yes.”
“You don’t get to make theft romantic.”
Peter lowered his head.
Before police took him away, he said Bell had hidden Jamie’s original letter because it contained something about the crash.
Then he looked at me.

“Your father was driving the other car.”
