Chapter 7 - The Masterpiece of Revenge

Six months later.
The dark clouds over the Whitmore estate had finally cleared.
The fallout shelter beneath the wine cellar was completely destroyed, replaced by a bright, sunlit conservatory filled with blooming white lilies and orchids.
Vanessa Sinclair and Julian Whitmore were both sentenced to life imprisonment without the possibility of parole in a maximum-security federal facility.
All stolen assets were recovered, and the Whitmore foundation donated fifty million dollars to establish the Claire Whitmore Center for Victims of Domestic Abuse and Captivity.
On a warm, sunny afternoon, Nathaniel stood on the grand balcony, wrapping his arms around Claire from behind.
Claire was wearing a stunning ivory silk dress, her skin healthy and radiant, her eyes finally filled with light and peace.
She turned around in his arms and placed her hands against his chest, smiling softly.
"You never stopped looking for me," Claire whispered, tracing the line of his jaw.
"I will never stop protecting you," Nathaniel promised, leaning down to press a deep, tender kiss against her lips.
Down on the green lawn below, Harrisonâwho had been granted leniency after testifying fully against Julianâwas carefully tending to the gardens, spending the rest of his days serving the true mistress of the house with absolute loyalty.
Nathaniel pulled Claire close against his heart, looking out over the vast, peaceful horizon.
The storm was over.
