Chapter 13 - The Boardroom Trap

The morning sun rose over the glass skyscraper of the Whitmore Corporate Headquarters in downtown Chicago.
At seven-thirty in the morning, ten high-ranking corporate board members sat around the grand glass table on the eightieth floor.
Victoria Sinclair walked into the room wearing an expensive black velvet suit, her silver hair styled immaculately, holding a leather briefcase.
Behind her stood two cold-eyed international corporate lawyers.
"Good morning, gentlemen," Victoria announced smoothly, setting her briefcase onto the center of the table.
"As of six o'clock this morning, I hold fifty percent of the voting power in this company via Julian Whitmore's proxy assignment."
"I am officially calling for a motion to vote Nathaniel Whitmore out as Chairman."
Several board members began whispering nervously among themselves.
"You don't have the legal authority to do that, Victoria!" one senior board member argued.
"Oh, but I do," Victoria smiled wickedly, tapping her manicured fingers on her leather case.
"Julianâs proxy is absolute."
Suddenly, the heavy glass doors of the boardroom swung open with a dramatic thud.
Nathaniel stepped into the room, wearing a sharp charcoal suit, looking dominant and completely fearless.
Right beside him walked Claire.
She was dressed in a tailored navy blue suit, her hair pulled back into an elegant knot, carrying a thick leather folder.
Victoriaâs confident smile faltered slightly as her eyes locked onto Claire.

"What is this trash doing in an executive meeting?" Victoria sneered dismissively.
"This 'trash' owns the chair you're standing next to, Victoria," Claire replied, her voice ringing clearly across the quiet room.
