Chapter 12 - The Matriarch's Revenge

The name echoed like a curse in the silent library.

Victoria Sinclair—a ruthless, high-society woman who had fled to Switzerland ten years ago after a series of massive corporate scandals.

She was the mastermind who had taught Vanessa everything she knew.

Before Nathaniel could speak, the landline phone on the library desk rang loudly.

Nathaniel walked over and picked up the heavy brass receiver.

"Blackwell," Nathaniel spoke in an icy tone.

A cold, sophisticated female voice laughed softly through the speaker:

"Hello, Nathaniel."

"It's been a long time."

"Victoria," Nathaniel spat out, his grip tightening on the receiver until his knuckles turned white.

"You should have stayed in Zurich."

"Why would I stay in Zurich when my daughter is rotting in a maximum-security prison because of your common servant wife?" Victoria sneered through the line.

"I just acquired Julian's remaining proxy rights, Nathaniel."

"Tomorrow morning at eight o'clock, I am filing an international injunction to freeze every asset owned by Whitmore Enterprises."

"You will be penniless by noon."

"Unless..." Victoria paused, her tone dropping into a poisonous whisper.

"...Claire hands over the original deed from the gatehouse."
