Chapter 10 - The Secret of the Whitmore Bloodline

Inside the dark oak box lay a thick stack of faded yellow legal documents and a small velvet pouch.

Nathaniel picked up the documents, turning the pages carefully under the beam of his light.

His face turned gradually pale as he read the formal seals at the bottom of the pages.

"Nathaniel?" Claire asked, her heart hammering against her ribs. "What is it?"

"It's... a birth certificate and a legal deed," Nathaniel whispered, his voice trembling in disbelief.

"Your father... he wasn't just an accountant for my grandfather."

Claire stared at him in confusion. "What do you mean?"

"Your father owned fifty percent of Whitmore Enterprises," Nathaniel revealed, looking up into her eyes with shock.

"My grandfather didn't build this empire alone."

"Your father funded the entire foundation."

"And when your father died..."

Nathaniel looked back down at the legal deed.

"...his half of the multi-billion-dollar empire was automatically willed to you."

Claire felt the room spin around her.

"Julian didn't just target me because I found the missing eighty million dollars three years ago," Claire gasped out, the horrifying truth settling over her mind.

"Julian and Vanessa hid me... because if I died or went missing for seven years..."

"...my fifty percent share of the entire Whitmore fortune would automatically revert to Julian as my legal trustee!"
