Chapter 20 - THE DRIVER WHO CAME BACK

One former driver, Thomas Reid, had left after arguing with Helena over a $6,000 damage claim.

He returned years later as a fleet consultant.

Not because we owed him a destiny.

He was good.

During his first meeting, Helena happened to be present as a guest.

Awkward.

She approached.

“I’m sorry.”

Thomas said:

“I know.”

Then:

“You don’t have to forgive me.”

“I know that too.”

Good.

He later told me the apology mattered less than the paycheck arriving correctly.

Practical man.
