Chapter 6 - THE CONTRACT JULIAN NEVER READ

The contract gave Adrian a hidden profit share in every resort Julian opened.

Not ownership.

Money.

A lot of it.

Julian had been paying my uncle through consulting companies for eight years.

Dad read the pages twice.

“Adrian helped him bypass the trust.”

“Why?”

“Because your grandfather never gave Adrian control.”

There it was.

Old resentment wearing a new suit.

At 3:00 a.m., Julian finally learned he had been suspended.

He stormed into the lobby.

Guests watched from velvet chairs.

“Where is my wife?”

Mateo answered.

“Off property, sir.”

“Bring her back.”

“I don’t take orders from you anymore.”

Julian stepped closer.

“I made you.”

Mateo’s expression barely moved.

“Mrs. Vale hired me six years before you became CEO.”

That shut him up.

Vanessa came down behind him carrying two suitcases.

“I’m leaving.”

Julian turned.

“No.”

“Your cards don’t work.”

“Temporary.”

“Your company email is gone.”

“Temporary.”

“Security won’t listen to you.”

“Vanessa.”

She stared at him.

“Do you actually own anything?”

The question hit harder than I could have.

Julian grabbed her arm.

She pulled away.

Then Mateo stepped between them.

Julian pointed toward the doors.

“Fine.”

“We’ll go to the Hamptons property.”

Mateo hesitated.

“Sir.”

Julian glared.

“What?”

May you like

“The Hamptons property belongs personally to Elena.”
