Chapter 13 - THE SALE THAT COULDN’T EXIST

We let the Costa Verde sale continue.

Dad hated the idea.

“Stop it now.”

“No.”

“Elena.”

“If we stop it, they say misunderstanding.”

I looked at Miriam.

“If they sign?”

“Intent becomes much easier to prove.”

So we waited.

At 5:42 a.m., Julian entered a private conference room at Aurelia Grand.

Adrian joined remotely.

The buyer’s attorney appeared.

So did Martin Sloane.

The missing banker.

He had not disappeared.

He had been hiding inside one of Julian’s corporate apartments.

Mateo’s team documented his arrival.

No confrontation.

No drama.

Just evidence.

At 5:58, Julian signed.

At 5:59, Adrian signed.

At 6:00, the buyer wired a deposit.

At 6:01, Miriam sent notice.

Transaction rejected.

Title failure.

At 6:02, law enforcement entered the room with warrants related to forged documents and bank fraud.

Julian stood.

“This is Elena’s doing.”

One investigator answered.

“Actually, sir, this is your signature.”

Adrian disconnected.

Too late.

The call had been recorded under court authority.

Martin tried to leave through a service corridor.

Mateo was waiting.

Then Julian looked through the glass wall.

I stood outside.

He stared at me.

For the first time, there was no arrogance.

Only disbelief.

He mouthed one word.

May you like

Why?
