Chapter 18 - SUNRISE AT AURELIA GRAND

Julian pleaded guilty to several financial charges rather than face the full trial.

Adrian lost his trust role permanently.

Martin lost his banking career and faced his own case.

Vanessa avoided charges related to the core scheme after cooperation, though civil claims followed her for years.

My divorce took eleven months.

Julian fought over everything.

Furniture.

Cars.

Art.

Even the espresso machine.

He lost interest when appraisers explained most valuable pieces belonged to family trusts.

That became almost funny.

The morning the divorce became final, I returned to Aurelia Grand.

The same doorman opened the entrance.

“Good morning, Ms. Laurent.”

Not Mrs. Vale.

I stopped.

“Good morning.”

Inside, workers were replacing the giant brass sign that read VALE INTERNATIONAL FLAGSHIP.

The new sign did not carry my name.

I did not want it to.

It simply read AURELIA GRAND.

The resort had existed before Julian.

It would exist after him.

Mateo met me near the elevators.

He handed me a black keycard.

“Full owner access.”

I looked at it.

Then handed it back.

“Make me a normal one.”

He blinked.

“Normal?”

“If I need to enter an employee-only room, I can knock.”

Mateo smiled.

“Your father is going to hate that.”

May you like

“Excellent.”
