Chapter 16 - The Shadow Within
Weeks passed.
Ivy fought for control every single day.
But the wolf inside her was stronger than ever, drunk on the taste of freedom.
"I want to be free," the wolf whispered in her mind. "I want to rule."
"I won't let you," Ivy replied.
But her words were empty.
She was losing the battle.
The wolf was gaining ground with every passing moment.
Selene found her one morning, sitting in the window seat of her room.
"Ivy," the Beta said gently. "You need to talk to someone. You need to let me help."
Ivy shook her head slowly.
"There's nothing you can do for me," she said. "The wolf is too strong."
"What about the alliance?" Selene pressed. "What about everything you've built?"
"It doesn't matter," Ivy replied. "None of it matters."
Selene didn't push.
She simply waited.
