Chapter 26 - THE NEXT LITTLE BOY

Leo had a son at thirty-three.

Name:

Enzo.

Three years old.

Of course.

One afternoon Enzo drew a line down the side of Leo’s car with a piece of sidewalk chalk.

Not damage.

Still looked dramatic.

Leo saw.

“Buddy.”

Enzo froze.

“I clean.”

Leo crouched.

“We’ll clean together.”

“Hungry?”

Leo’s face changed.

Old memory.

Then:

“You eat whether the chalk comes off or not.”

Enzo nodded.

They washed the door.

Halfway through, Enzo abandoned the sponge for a toy truck.

History defeated by attention span.
