Chapter 2: The Hidden Power

The entire ballroom erupted in shocked whispers. Mrs. Harrington’s face turned ghostly white.

“That’s impossible,” she spat. “Olivia is just a mid-level manager. My husband built this company from nothing!”

Julian raised an eyebrow. “Built it? With whose money?”

He nodded toward the stage. The large screen behind the podium suddenly lit up with financial records, ownership documents, and transfer papers — all showing Olivia Bennett as the majority stakeholder with 68% shares.

Olivia stepped forward, still wrapped in Julian’s jacket. Her voice was calm but carried through the room.

“I invested my inheritance three years ago when the company was about to collapse. I stayed in the shadows because Mr. Harrington begged me to. He said it would look better if a man was the face of the company. I agreed… because I believed in the work we were doing.”

She looked directly at Mr. Harrington, who was now shaking.

“I gave you bonuses, promotions, and freedom. And you repaid me by letting your wife call me a whore in front of everyone who works for me.”

Mrs. Harrington turned on her husband. “You pathetic liar! You told me she was chasing you!”

Mr. Harrington tried to back away. “Darling, I can explain—”

Julian stepped closer, voice low and dangerous. “Security is already here. The board has been notified. By morning, you will no longer be CEO.”

Later that night, in the quiet of her penthouse, Olivia sat on the couch, emotionally drained. Julian poured her a glass of water and sat beside her.

“You didn’t have to reveal everything tonight,” she said softly.

“I couldn’t stand there and watch them destroy you,” Julian replied, taking her hand. “I’ve been in love with you since the day you hired me as your secret advisor two years ago.”

Olivia looked at him in surprise. “You… love me?”

Cliffhanger: The next morning, Mr. Harrington showed up at Olivia’s office with his wife, both of them looking desperate. Mrs. Harrington cried, “Please, Olivia! We’ll do anything. Don’t take everything from us. Think of our children!”
