The entire marketing department had fallen silent.
Sarah saw me.
She rushed toward me, her face pale.
"You did this!"
I looked at her quietly.
"No."
"You stole my work."
"You ruined my life!"
"You ruined it yourself."
Her voice cracked.
"We were friends."
"Were we?"
I pulled out my phone.
The screen showed dozens of emails she had sent over two years.
"Send me the latest draft."
"I'll present this to the executive committee."
"I'll make sure you get credit."
She had never kept that promise.
Tears filled her eyes.
"I have bills... I have a mortgage..."

"So did I."
"You were willing to destroy my career to build yours."
Security stepped forward.
HR spoke gently.
"Ms. Kline, it's time."
She looked around the office, searching for someone—anyone—to defend her.
No one moved.
No one spoke.
As the elevator doors closed behind her, the floor remained completely silent.
